Anti-Steering Laws
The Anti-Steering Laws, signed into law by Governor Jennifer Granholm on July 8, 2004, prohibit insurers from restricting claimants from using a particular person, place, or shop for repairs. The law requires that insurers inform claimants if they have agreements with any repair facility and to let the claimant know that they are not obligated to have their vehicle repaired at one of those shops.
